The ministry works to create, promote, and drive new digital opportunities in Jordan, which will facilitate the positioning of the Kingdom as a regional and international player in development and services.
Jordan is considered to have a high rate of entrepreneurship initiatives compared to other countries, with a liberalized telecom sector, proximity to key regional markets, and government support. The Information Communications and Technology (ICT) sector in Jordan is one of the fastest-growing, with total annual revenue exceeding USD 3.3 billion. The government’s focus on digital transformation and e-government services has created opportunities for entrepreneurs and innovators in the country. The Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship has been working to promote the digital economy and entrepreneurship on a national level through a comprehensive process of digital services, digital assets, digital and social entrepreneurship, and the enabling environment, in partnership with public and private sectors and civil society organizations.
The WFP Jordan Innovation Hub aims to nurture the growing number of innovations and entrepreneurs in Jordan whose solutions tackle local food security issues. The hub plans to work directly with 10 promising startups and continue building ecosystem network contacts, particularly those involved in youth entrepreneurship.
